The Farm
Birchfield Farmstay is a delightful and unusual Mediterranean style cottage set on a secluded 24 hectares rural property. Due to its rendered strawbale construction, it is very cool in summer, and very snug in winter, especially with the woodstove fired up and the wooden shutters closed.
The main bedroom contains a queen bed, while the smaller second bedroom has bunk beds. A further two people can use the sofa bed in the dining/kitchen area if necessary. This area also contains satellite tv, stereo and all cooking facilities in the well-equipped kitchen.
There is a shower, and a separated toilet, between the two bedrooms.
On the covered patio outside, is a gas-fired BBQ, a webber oven, and another pot-belly stove for those chilly evenings when the stars are out. There is also a large wood-fired pizza oven for the ambitious cook!
Guests can wander about the 24 hectares and beyond, seeing kangaroos and many species of native birds.
The domesticated ones include ducks, guinea fowl, parrots, chickens and peacocks, which are very friendly, as are the donkeys, alpaca, pig and guinea pigs. They all love to be fed.
Well-behaved pets are welcome, but dogs that chase sheep are not!
There is also table tennis, and guests can climb to a treehouse to get a good view of the farm.
